Kin no Kanojo Gin no Kanojo Ch.23

Code KinGin: Karinko of the Rebellion.

As a random note I probably should've put in the release (and may still for the batch), Karinko speaks in a somewhat old-fashioned manner.  All of my attempts to convey that in English turned out horribly awkward, so I left it mostly normal.

Enjoy the chapter!

  3. I've often wondered how to judge how old-fashioned you make the old-fashioned speech when translating from Japanese. The dictionary might say "archaic term", but does that mean they're talking like someone out of Shakespeare? Jane Austen? Some old war film? How can you tell?
Mind you, it's probably best to avoid the Shakespeare route. There's nothing worse than getting all the "thees" and "thous" wrong... I think "mostly normal" is probably the safest option.

    1. I hadn't read the chapter through when I posted that, and didn't realise you actually had sneaked in some "thees" here and there. It wasn't intended as a criticism. What I should have said is that most people get the verbs all wrong, and write things like "thou hath"... Ugh.

Having said that, though, you really shouldn't have a character using "thou" and "you" (in the singular) interchangeably. It's just wrong. So if you're going to change anything for the volume release, please consider having another go at Karinko...

    2. Hm, I thought I got rid of them. I left 1 in on purpose (pg4, for the prediction), but after reading it again, I did miss a few. It's not nearly as bad as it was at first, but the stragglers will be dealt with for the batch.
